Membrane Protein Laboratory | Travel, accommodation and consumable costs

3.1 Travel and accommodation

  • The MPL does not currently have a budget to cover the cost of visitors travel, accommodation and consumables.
  • Visitors will need to pay for accommodation and travel. The Diamond synchrotron hostel, Ridgeway House is available on site and costs £58 / night. Cheaper accommodation can be found in Didcot and other local towns.

3.2 Lab access and consumable charges

A small charge to contribute to the costs of consumables will be necessary

  • A charge of £200/month for each month, or part of a month, as a contribution to the cost of consumables.
  • This charge will apply only for days when visitors are on site, so for intermittent visits, a charge of £200 will apply for up to 22 days.
  • Crystallisation plates will be charged at £20 per plate.
  • Fluidigm chips will be charged according to usage, depending on the number of samples run and the type of chip.
