For Synchrotron Users | European Access

Diamond was previously allocated funding under the EU Framework 7 (ELiSA) project for the period 1 Mar 2010 to 31 Aug 2011 to financially assist European led experiments through payment of travel, accommodation & beamtime. From 31st August 2011 this funding will cease.

Diamond has now been allocated funding under the BioStruct-X project to financially assist European led life sciences experiments on Diamond’s MX beamlines and for life sciences work on Beamline I22.  Users must:

  1. apply for BioStruct-X funding in advance of applying to Diamond.  Please see http://www.biostruct-x.eu/ for guidelines and application form.
  2. Users may request funding from this programme for travel, subsistence and accommodation on their online application form.
  3. inform Diamond on submission of a proposal that it is from a BioStruct-X BAG and supply the reference.  This should be done via e-mail to the User Office quoting your proposal number.

If the proposal is successful then Diamond will then claim funds directly from the project.

Please note that those that have received support need to include the following statement in any publications resulting from their research "The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under BioStruct-X (grant agreement No. 283570)."

Unfortunately, there is currently no European funding for physical science experiments, or life sciences experiments on other beamlines.  Diamond welcomes applications for beamtime for EU users and will consider, on a case by case basis, requests for funding for travel and subsistene for those projects awarded beamtime.  Users are asked to contact the Diamond User Office for further details.

Please note that those that have received support through ELiSA need to include the following statement in any publications resulting from their research: “The research leading to these results has received funding from the European Community’s Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) under grant agreement nº 226716”.
