The aim of the XAS workshop was to teach new and existing users of the Diamond spectroscopy beamlines how to process and analyze their data. The course was a mixture of lectures and hands-on sessions designed to teach participants the basics of data processing and analysis using the latest version of Athena and Artemis called Demeter.

We were delighted to welcome Bruce Ravel, developer of the Athena and Artemis XAS analysis packages, to teach the course. Bruce is an experienced experimentalist who has been involved in both the theoretical development of XAS as well as the development of software tools for the wider community. His insights and expertise were of considerable benefit to all who attended.
