Test System Configuration

All clients must be configured identically.

Operating System

All performance benchmarks must be run using clients running a standard installation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 Update 6 for i386 (or alternatively CentOS 4.6 for i386). In both cases the kernel provided with the distribution must be used. DLS reserves the right to perform its own performance checks with either of those distributions at its discretion.

The operating system (RHEL4U6 or CentOS 4.6) must be installed using default values and the default kernel as provided by RHEL4U6 or CentOS 4.6. In particular the kernel must not be patched.

Remote File System

The file system under test should be mounted as /testfs on the client, the best mount options for the file system can be chosen by the supplier and must be reported in the Tender Questionnaire.

Network Access

All clients must be connected to the network using 1 Gbit Ethernet. The clients and any storage servers can be connected to the same network switch.
