Beamlines | Macromolecular Crystallography Village

This village includes five macromolecular crystallography beamlines. These beamlines support the needs of the well established UK structural biology research community. The research programme include macromolecular assemblies, membrane proteins, viruses, pathogenic targets and rational drug design.

The Microfocus MX beamline I24 extends this capability to examining crystals that cannot be studied on conventional beamlines because of size or unacceptable disorder with a beam size of 5 – 100 μm.

Implementation of biological containment at category 3 level on I03 will enable samples from category 3 pathogens to be studied.

Macromolecular Crystallograghy beamlines

I02 Macromolecular crystallography - one of three diffraction beamlines for interpreting the structure of complex biological samples, such as proteins.
I03 Macromolecular crystallography - as above
I04 Macromolecular crystallography - as above
I04-1 Fixed Wavelength Monochromatic MX station - Station attached to the I04 macromolecular crystallography beamline that will use monochromatic light to investigate the structure of proteins complexes.
I24 Microfocus macromolecular crystallography - a microfocus medium energy beamline for investigating the relationship between the structure of large macromolecules and their function within living organisms.
