Approved Beamlines
Following extensive consultation with the scientific user community, five beamlines were recommended by the Diamond Science Advisory Committee to enter the design phase.
- I05 - Angle-Resolved Photo-Emission Spectroscopy (ARPES)
- I08 - Soft X-ray Microscopy
- B21 - High Throughput Small Angle X-Ray Scattering (SAXS)
- I23 - Long Wavelength Macromolecular Crystallography
- B24 - Full Field Cryo-transmission X-ray Microscope for Biology
21 April 2011: Proposals for five further beamlines were presented to the Diamond SAC and the Diamond Industry Committee (DISCo) in February/March 2011. Diamond Management requested that SAC and DISCo should prioritise these proposals taking into account scientific potential, UK user community demand and industrial demand within the context of facilities at Diamond (operating and in construction). The SAC also considered against the worldwide provision of synchrotron radiation facilities.
After consideration of the advice from the SAC and DISCo the Diamond Board have agreed that design and construction of the following beamlines should be considered in detail:
- Versatile Soft X-ray (VERSOX)
- Inelastic X-ray Scattering (IXS)
- X-ray PDF (XPDF)
- Hard X-Ray Nanoprobe
The first five Phase III beamlines are shown in grey.
