The second experimental hutch houses a diffractometer onto which large UHV chambers can be mounted. The hutch will allow longer term UHV setup and in-situ sample preparation to take place while other users take beam in the first hutch.
Details of equipment in EH2:
- 2+3 Circle Diffractometer with hexapod sample stage for use in vertical scattering geometry
- Large removable ultra high vacuum sample chamber for in-situ preparation and characterisation using standard surface science techniques
- Ability to mount other large chambers
- Pressure < 1x10-10 mbar
- Liquid nitrogen cooling
- Sample heating up to ~1800 K
- Choice of Pilatus 100K or large area CCD detectors
The second hutch will be commissioned from August 2011.
