Beamlines | I07 | Experimental hutch 2

The second experimental hutch houses a diffractometer onto which large UHV chambers can be mounted. The hutch will allow longer term UHV setup and in-situ sample preparation to take place while other users take beam in the first hutch.

Details of equipment in EH2:

  • 2+3 Circle Diffractometer with hexapod sample stage for use in vertical scattering geometry
  • Large removable ultra high vacuum sample chamber for in-situ preparation and characterisation using standard surface science techniques
  • Ability to mount other large chambers
  • Pressure < 1x10-10 mbar
  • Liquid nitrogen cooling
  • Sample heating up to ~1800 K
  • Choice of Pilatus 100K or large area CCD detectors

The second hutch will be commissioned from August 2011.
