Dates: 8th - 9th June 2011
Diamond Light Source, Oxfordshire, UK
Development of novel materials requires acquiring an understanding of their electronic structure. It is now established that the most powerful technique for mapping electronic structure in solids is angle resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES). This workshop brought together experts of high resolution electron spectroscopy and researchers interested in electronic structures of solids and their surfaces. It marked the start of construction of the new beamline I05-ARPES at Diamond Light Source. The presentations and discussions included fields such as high temperature and exotic superconductivity, charge and spin density waves, novel electronic states such as topologically protected surface states and Dirac Fermions.
