Diamond is an energetic and dynamic organisation employing over 500 people from around the world. In addition over 7,000 researchers use Diamond’s world-class beamlines every year to conduct experiments in a wide range of disciplines.
Diamond is a not-for-profit limited company funded as a joint venture by the UK Government through the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) in partnership with the Wellcome Trust. Access to Diamond is free at the point of access for scientists funded by the UK Research Councils or the Wellcome Trust, providing results are published and freely accessible by the academic community, and beamtime is controlled by a peer review panel and allocated on scientific merit. Over the last 3 years we have had an average of approximately 500 peer reviewed papers each year.
We are now seeking a new Director of Physical Sciences. A world-class academic within the physical sciences, the successful candidate will have had significant leadership experience within a complex scientific environment and be confident in engaging with diverse stakeholders in academia, industry and government.

The appointment will be made by a selection panel comprising the Chairman of the Board, the Chief Executive Officer and members of the Diamond Board of Directors representing shareholders of the Company.
