A wide range of sample environments can be provided for the first experimental hutch, and there is also the option for users to mount their own environments.
A range of controlled atmosphere environments are available, different sizes with heaters and UV lamp if required. Humidity control is also possible with the chamber shown here.

We are also happy to advise on alternative user supplied cell designs.
The beamline has a Princeton (VersaSTAT 3F-400) Potentiostat that is fully integrated with the beamline control software.
A linear stage can be mounted on top of the hexapod to allow multiple samples to be mounted simultaneously. A simple plate is provided for mounting samples but alternatively users can interface directly to the stage.

A small UHV "baby-chamber" can be mounted in EH1. This interfaces with the large Omicron UHV chamber in the S&I Village UHV Lab.
Various set-ups are possible including a Be-dome (shown here) or Be-cylinder. The chamber can be mounted with the surface-nomal either horizontal or vertical.
A large Nima langmuir trough (400 x 300mm) can be mounted on the diffractometer for experiments using the DCD. This is combined with an active anti-vibration system to isolate the sample from any vibrations generated by the diffractometer.
The trough can be placed inside a large controlled atmosphere enclosure as required.
Some other simple teflon troughs and user supplied troughs can also be used. Please ask about small volumes and temperature control where required
A high-resolution low-pressure (<1 atm) gas handling panel is available. This is capable of accurate dosing of samples with known quantities of a range of different gases and can be used for high resolution volumetric adsorption isotherms.
Temperature control on the beamline is normally via a Eurotherm controller. This is generally suitable for thermocouples and PT100 temperature sensors but precision is limited at extreme temperatures.
The standard power supply for heaters is 24V. Higher voltage power supplies may be available but please consult the beamline team for details.
Although I07 does not have its own cryostats & high pressure apparatus, it is possible to use equipment from other beamlines. Previous users have used a cryostat or a hydrostatic pressure rig from other beamlines. It is also possible to borrow other temperature controllers that allow for a more precise temperature measurement at cryogenic temperatures.
The beamline does stock a limited range of heaters and thermometers.
A Lauda circulating water bath/chiller is also available (currently not controlable remotely).
The flexiblity of the diffractometer also means that we are able to mount a wide range of user supplied sample environments. Here we provide some details of the space and weight constraints and interfacing to the hexapod. However we would encourage any users to contact the beamline prior to submitting poropsals to ensure that their equipment will be compatible with the beamline.
