Si(111) monochromator and 27 mm period undulator giving energy range 2.05- 20.7 keV (core range 5 -15 keV)
Can be used from 7 -20 keV in Si(333) mode with less flux but higher resolution
Mechanical KB mirrors with Si and Rh stripes. Mirrors can be moved from beam path for bulk EXAFS.
Typically 2-5 (V) x 2 -5 (H) micron spot size.Can be defocused up to 100 μm
9 element Ge C-train detector (5 – 20 keV)

The new 1mm thick vortex has replaced bothe the C-train and the SGX.
Sample stage (25 mm X movement, 30 mm Y movement, 4 kg load) allows XRF map collection while rastering
XRF maps using continuous scanning of the x-stage removes the deadtime associated with step scans allowing for larger and faster XRF maps. A 200 x 200 point map may now be done in about 2 hrs if the sample is concentrated enough.

The Si detectors are mounted vertically and a Theta tilt stage goes on normal sample stage to align samples.
Reflexafs is done with an unfocused vertical beam.
|Capillary in front of Fluorescence detector for 3d XAS/XRF||Available||A focussing optic on the detector is used to define a narrow sampling volume from the incident x-rays and outgoing fluorescence signal. This confocal arrangement enables slice, volume and depth dependant XRF/XANES studies of thick samples and solid particles. Spatial resolution in the beam direction ranges from 10-15microns depending on energy.|
We ahope to develop a new fixed bend mirror system as an alternative to our current system to give a smaller (sub-micron) focus.

Timing information: A typical EXAFS scan takes 23 minutes with a 3 micron or so sized beam. Mapping at higher energies (using Ge or Si detector) can now be done at around 10 points per second using rastering or even faster for concentrated samples, 1 pt per second in step by step mode. For low PPM samples more time per point is required , typically 1-2 seconds.
This low-vibration cryostat can be used either with liquid helium or liquid nitrogen. The sample chamber is in vacuum. We recommend mounting of thin sections on sapphire discs which, once on the beamline, can be mounted on clip-on aluminium discs. There are several restrictions in the diameter of the sections that can be mounted (apprx 15 mm) and in the area that is available for x-ray imaging due to the finger that holds the aluminium disc in place.
