Connect to ixx-ws001.diamond.ac.uk via PuTTY and port forwarding
Download and open NX configuration file with NX player
Start GDA: open the folder beamline_launchers and double click on the icon
Start Albula/ADXV: open the folder DLS_launchers and double click on the icon
Do not attempt a remote connection outside of your allocated beamtime or any pre-arranged test visit. To reprocess your data after a visit at Diamond, please connect to our server nx.diamond.ac.uk

1 - Set up putty to make a ssh tunnel to nx.diamond.ac.uk by following the steps below:
On the left menu, got to "Connection", "SSH" and "Tunnels". Enter 9990 for Source port and i04-ws001.diamond.ac.uk:4000 for Destination for i04, then click Add. Replace i04 by i02, i03, i04-1 or i24 for other beamlines.
On the left menu, go to "Connection" and "Data". Fill out "Auto-login username" with you FedID:
In "Session" enter the host name: nx.diamond.ac.uk:
Give a name to the session and save it, then click on "Open" to run it:
Enter your password and leave this window open:
2 - Run NX player:
Download the configuration file: Connection_to_Diamond.nx and open it with NX player. Click on Yes to proceed.
Enter your FedId and your password then click "OK":
Then choose "Create a new virtual desktop":
Open the beamline launchers and make sure you double click on 'Start New GDA Client':
After starting GDA check in "Messages" / "Beamline notes" for any information relative to the beamline:
Check the status on the top left corner of GDA to determine if you control the beamline. If the Baton isred, you will need to request it to the current holder. Right click on the Baton circle to open the Baton menu (for more options see Baton panel web page).
You can request the Baton by clicking 'Request Baton'. This will send a request to the holder. You can also send message to the baton holder via the Baton panel (see Baton panel web page).
Once the holder has agreed to release the Baton, your status will turn to green. You can now control the beamline and sample changer as if you were on the beamline. For instructions on how to use GDA, please refer to the relevant section of our manual.
To view your diffraction images, open the DLS_launchers and double click on the Albula icon.
To disconnect, go to "System" then "Log out".
