B24 is currently in a commissioning period and is calling for user proposals.
This commissioning call covers the period of Oct-Dec 2017.
At this stage, we are offering absorption contrast within the water window at a resolution of approximately 60 nm for vitrified biological samples.
For these experiments it is essential that users have, in addition to a strong science case, demonstrated expertise in sample preparation or have discussed the preparation with beamline staff prior to submission.
Interested users should submit applications through the UAS and choose the 'Commissioning' access route since this is a specific call for beamtime on a new beamline.
All proposals will be assessed and beamtime will be granted based on scientific merit with a strong emphasis on technical feasibility.
Rapid access 'pilot studies' (max 3 shifts) will be available and may be suggested prior to a full beamtime allocation in cases where there is uncertainty on sample preparation, user experience or feasibility.
The deadline for this call is 1st July 2017.
