Current Research Techniques:
X-ray powder diffraction
1. Empty (bottom) and loaded borosilicate glass capillary (top) of 0.5 mm (internal diameter) with ~ 40-50 mm powder material. This could be done in user’s laboratory or the beamline support laboratory. The capillary should be sealed either with a flame, superglue or wax. This can be done before or after step 2.
2. Loaded capillary stuck to a brass holder ready to be attached to the holder base (below). The brass holder and base will be supplied at the beamline for your experiment.
3. Photo showing a loaded capillary and holder base (right) and a sample attached to the base (left) ready for data collection. The procedures shown in 2 and 3 will be done in the support laboratory (I11).
